The hymn, “ This is My Father‘s World,” comes alive for creationists traveling through the Shenandoah Valley on I-81 in Virginia when they see a billboard, inviting them to “Hear Rocks Sing” at the Luray Caverns (Exit 264). Interested tourists will read in a descriptive brochure: “For more than 100 years, Luray Caverns has been renowned as one of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders . . . ‘Hear Rocks Sing’ in this subterranean wonderland as you experience the haunting sounds of the world’s largest musical instrument, The Great Stalacpipe Organ. Completely unique are the beautiful tones created by this one-of-a-kind instrument, which makes music of concert quality from the surrounding stalactite formations covering more than three acres.” The brochure pictures the three-manual organ and one of the mallet structures that strike different-sized stalactites to produce the “music of symphonic quality from [these] ancient stone formations.” I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will show forth thy marvelous works. (Psalm 9:1)
